The GMBC Community Development Corporation has been a viable organization for nearly 100 years with a mission to improve the quality of life for people in the Greater Houston area through education, economic development, the arts, health and social services. The Foundation provides a variety of community service programs to the Acres Homes community, as well as the Greater Houston area.
The GMBC Community Development Corporation’s programming includes Project Give Back, a program focused on providing assistance to those in need; the Scholarship program, which is a program focused on soliciting funds to support the education goals of aspiring high school seniors. Future GMBC Community Development Corporation programming includes an expansion of services provided under Project Give Back and the initiation of a Community Fitness program.
Today, Project Give Back, under the leadership of our Chairman, Dr. Edwin A. Davis, has assisted countless families. The sole purpose of Project Give Back is to meet people's basic needs on a short-term interim basis. We provide assistance with food and shelter, utility services, mentorship and counseling.
he Scholarship program has been in existence for over 20 years! The program has benefitted in excess of 300 students through the award of over $315,000 in scholarships. Many success stories have been birth from this highly effective and successful program. As you can imagine financial support for the work that the GMBC Community Development Corporation conducts annually is the key to our success and longevity.
